Euro 2012 rivals square up

Tonight sees fierce rivals Germany and the Netherlands square up to each other in an International Friendly at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg after both drawing in the past week.

Germany came from two goals behind to salvage a 3-3 draw away in Ukraine while Holland were held at home to a vigilant Switzerland side.

Germany go into the match aiming to win at home for the first time against the Oranje and to establish themselves as forerunners alongside Spain for the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

Holland are limited in attacking options for the fixture with Rafael van der Vaart, Ibrahim Afellay and Arjen Robben all out through injury, while Gunners striker Robin Van Persie is rested following instructions from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Van Persie is set to be a big miss for Holland after his recent form for his club, scoring 29 times in 28 games and also winning Premier League Player of the Month for October.

German coach Joachim Low is set to start with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation tonight having used an experimental 3-4-2-1 in the friendly against the Ukraine on Friday.

Having been in devastating goalscoring form for his club Bayern Munich; scoring 20 goals in 18 appearances so far this season, Gomez will be deployed as a lone striker against Holland tonight.

The fixture is certain to provide an indication as to who Spain’s nearest challengers are at the European Championships.

  1. Should be a good game, hopefully bet365 will have it. All you need is a fiver in your account and you can watch the live streams they have.

  2. They don’t 😦 but Portugal-Bosnia at 9 will be cracking. Forza Papac.

  3. Germany for me.
