Personal Touch

Due to the fact that The Independent is now readable through Facebook, I came across this article after a friend had read it recently. The article left an effect on me that no other article concerning the war had done before. Instead of reporting the hard based facts about another death that had sadly happened, it contained letters from a soldier who had recently passed away. The letters were sent to his family before his death.  The personal touch of adding the letters made all the difference to me as it made it more real to me. The hard hitting fact of the death of many soldiers who fight in the war is always going to be reported as so many wars are being fought but this way of approaching the issue is far more shocking and emotive in my opinion.   3. I love this. This type of journalism should be included more often. I am sure the independant would receive increased readers’ if similar articles were included regularly. I love how personal it is, many mums will relate to this. I hope there is more to come from the Independant. Thanks for posting.

  4. Wow. Tears are running down my face, so sad but in a way it’s lovely for a mum to have those kind of letters. Honestly couldn’t even think what i would write if i had to face writing a letter subject to death. What a brave boy! Such a nice article.
