Dailybooth Review

by Karen Kelly

Described as “Your Life in Pictures”, Dailybooth is a photo-blogging website where users can upload daily pictures of themselves with captions telling viewers about their day, mood or generally anything they can think of. It was founded in 2009 and after promotion from celebrities, such as Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher became evermore popular. As technology improves and becomes more widely available to people, Dailybooth has been receiving more and more visitors with a record of 3 million unique visitors in recent months. As the website promotes itself as a “community of self expression”, it appears to be a photographic version of Facebook and other social media websites (similar to Flickr). Some use the site as an platform to tell the world what is happening in their lives, band practice, new pieces of art and fashion: “self expression”. While many others manage to turn the mundane into the exotic…hmm.  A picture paints a thousand words, so why do we need redundant status updates as well? Can’t people be content with one place to moan, instead of finding every medium possible to tell the world a load of rubbish. Facebook is quite enough.
