Scottish Image and Stereotype

by Craig Watson

I’ve uploaded my college journalism article titled ‘A Look in the Mirror’. It is an article I wrote in late April in the build up to the Scottish elections. The article discusses the media and Scottish image and explores many aspects for our culture here in Scotland. It is complete with interviews and I attempted to create a piece which has my own style, but stays with a topical outlook.

If you fancy giving it a read-over then I’ve uploaded it on my blog. Please comment and give some constructive feedback. Thanks :):)

  1. I completely agree with what you are saying – it seems extremely patronising when people assume that all Scottish people have ginger hair and wear kilts. I think that one reason that this happens is the way Scotland is portrayed in films – namely as a very rural country, usually using images of the highlands to represent the whole of Scotland.
