Lookbook.nu is a website which was created in 2008 and is now used by over 60,000 people around the world to express their individual personality through their flare for fashion. From users dressing in clothes from second-hand shops all the way through to designers such as Alexander McQueen, Prada and Miu Miu. These bloggers interact, post pictures and comment on each others choices of clothing and discuss their inspiration for each outfit. The website works as users ‘hype’ other users choice of clothing, the more ‘hypes’ received the further up on the page the user is displayed, which allows them more recognition. This, for many of the users is useful, as the majority of  individuals have personal fashion or photography blogs which open their career into other aspects, such as appearing in magazines and other online blogging websites.  Interviews are conducted by the website each month, the user with the most ‘hypes’ gives more in-depth information about themselves and their occupation, answers questions and allows their “fans” a little insight into their own personal life. I’m not going to lie, when I say ‘fans’ I truly do mean fans! Some of these people have young girls commenting explaining how they view them as a role model and inspire them to experiment with style – some of the users even have Like pages on Facebook.

In addition there are forums which people can discuss things such as – film, literature, art and music. Comments reaching over the 3000 mark on some posts. I think for people who are interested in fashion, photography and being an all round creative person with their image, this website is marketed towards them. Some may say its vain, others may view it as a site of inspiration!
