Newborn baby dies in washing machine

Today I came across possibly the most sickening news story you will read this year. A 10-day old baby in Oklahoma died when her mother put her into the washing machine along with the washing. The tiny thing suffered a whole spin-cycle before being discovered- approximately 40 minutes later.

The concerned aunt of the mother came to check on how her niece was coping- and discovered the baby girl, Maggie May, in the washing machine and her mother passed out. In a call to the emergency services, the two are heard arguing over who is responsible for the death of the child. The aunt is heard saying “No, I did not kill your baby. You did.”  The police and ambulance crews who attended the scene were apparently in tears throughout.  One police chief described it as “the most tragic crime scene he has ever investigated.” The mother is now being held on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter without bail.

But how could someone be so careless? Well, the mother of the baby is well known for her drug use, particularly the American favourite crystal meth. In fact, she was arrested whilst 4 months pregnant on drugs charges. She also has a colourful criminal record with various assualt charges and driving offences- including not having her elder 2 children, aged 3 and 4, in car seats.  These 2 children have now been taken into care.

This raises the question of what we should do about parents like these. Even across Scotland there are parents who are incapable of looking after their children. And social services are often just as incompetent. I think, before we too get a scandal like this, the government should consider doing something about them.

  1. Anyone this sick should be locked up for life

  2. I don’t think I’ve heard anything so upsetting or horrifying in a long time! Some people really shouldn’t be allowed to have children!

  3. dear fuck,
how can stuff like this happen?
Also, I’m soo stuck finding stories for intro to reporting. how did you guys do it?

  4. Its things like this that really make me for certain people not being allowed to have children. Sounds a bit draconian but innocent children are being harmed and in some cases, killed.

  5. this is horrible 😦 so so sad!

  6. It’s hard to find something to comment on when a story is so sickening! It speaks for itself. All I can say is I feel sorry for the children being brought up by these sick and careless individuals – lets be honest it’s a slippery slope for the majority of them.

  7. I am actually in shock, even the thought of this upsets me. How could anyone do something like this is what I’d like to know?

  8. I read that they were thinking of sterilizing drug addicts either in Scotland or the UK, i can’t remember. But after reading stories about the death of children like this one, it might be a safer alternative.

This story make me sick, but it was a good blog emma!
