1901 – Annie Edson Taylor becomes the first person to go over Niagra Falls in a barrel. (This is now popular among daredevils)

1911 – Orville Wright remains in the air for 9 minutes 45 seconds in a glider.

1929 –  Black Thursday stock market crash. People panic and sell all their shares as soon as possible to take what they can, causing others to do the same and the stocks to crash.

1945 – The UN is founded

1946 – The first photograph of Earth from space

2003 – Concorde makes its last commercial flight

2008 – Bloody Friday occurs, in which most of the world’s stock markets crash by around 10%. (It was a bad day for the stock markets in history. The second major crash to occur on this day)
