Why go further than Facebook?

Facebook must be the easiest social media site to use. Everyone’s on it! My Grandmother’s on there and she only learned how to use a computer last week.

I have tried Twitter, Buzz and even Bebo before it died. I just can’t drag myself away from Facebook. Why is it so addictive?

Facebook appears to be the way of communication these days. Forget texting or even live conversation, Facebook me.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy speaking to people face-to-face. However, with one click of a mouse you can find out all you need to know without the awkward chitchat. So simple.

  1. This has just made me wonder if this ‘easy option’ is making many of us poor face to face communicators though? As a journalist, I think I would naturally want to interview someone I didn’t know through facebook or email as it does eliminate that akwardness you describe. But is this good for us?

    Good post Charlotte.

  2. There is no doubt that it’s making us awful at real life converation. Look at me, I speak freely to anyone on Facebook but face to face, I’m a bumbling idiot. Facebook interviews would be easier but would you be able to squeeze out as much information?
    Thank you.
